Happy Halloween

First of  let me start with saying... HaPPy HaLLoWeeN!

The last of the movies - which unfortunately, I did not finish. It was much more difficult than I though to fit a movie into my busy schedule every day.

Zombieland
 - A group of humans try to survive in the U.S. which has become overcome with Zombies. A great comedy with one of the best cameos I have seen in a long time.
Seven
 - Two detectives are after a serial killer who stages 7 kills after the 7 deadly sins.
Little Shop of Horrors
 - A flower shop has an interesting plant which grows off of human blood. It's a comical musical - very, very 80's and really a classic.
Casper
 - A ghost living in a haunted house with his evil Uncles only wants a friend. While a young girl, who moves from town to town with her father chasing ghosts, desperately wants to fit in.
Atomic Age Vampire
Revolt of the Zombies
The Brain That Wouldn't Die
The Beast of Yucca Flats
 - To be honest, I watched these four movies but they are old, black and white B-List movies. And I mean B-List list movies. The audio is good - unlike some older movies, you can understand what they are saying - but none of the plots make sense. Atomic Age Vampire does not have a vampire in it…. At all. Revolt of Zombies does feature zombies but I really didn't understand anything else. The Brain That Wouldn't Die is about a brain that will not die - no big shocker there. And I really have no clue what The Beast of Yucca Flats was about - I think the beast was the guy at the beginning but who knows. With all that being said I had a LOT of fun laughing at the bad dubbing and hilarious plot lines. Plus, most of the movies were close to an hour long so they didn't take up a huge amount of my time.

The movies I didn’t get to were:
The Sixth Sense
Saw
Secret Window
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
The Fall of the House of Usher
The Pit and the Pendulum
Labyrinth

But I am planning on watching all of these. They are pretty good movies.
Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween and enjoyed some great Halloween movies.

12 Little Pumpkins

Here are some super cute Halloween Luminaries that were very fun to create.

What You Need:
Mason Jars (Canning Jars)
Acrylic Paint - I used Wood Paints in Orange, Metallic Black, and Gold
Paint Brushes
Sharpie Markers
Ribbon and Rick-Rack
Hot Glue Gun
Newspaper
Water and Paper Towels

I decided to paint on my kitchen table so I layed out newspaper to protect my table cloth. Start with a mason jar, remove the lid. Canning jars normally have a 2 part lid (the rim which screws onto the jar and a silver disk) you can get rid of the silver disks and set the rims off to the side.

Paint the jars one by one with orange paint. One coat will be very streaky, two coats looks antiqued, three coats will look very clean looking. I only did two. Two things that I learned are very helpful are first off let the paint COMPLETELY dry, and I mean COMPLETELY dry. The paint will peel and then you have a sort of spotty looking. Second, while paint your second and third coats make sure when rinse out your brushes that all the water is pressed out of them. If there is any extra water in the brush this will also make the paint bubble and peel. Not a pretty look.

Once they are painted let them dry completely. I let them dry overnight to ensure that the Sharpie would go on well. However, it doesn't. Some times it won't write, sometimes it "scraps" off the paint, other times it works fine. I don't know anything that really works though. So I drew on all the faces I wanted.

Next I used my metallic black paint and painted in the faces. While these were drying I painted the sides of  the rims black and gold.

I then let everything dry completely and painted a second coat on both the black facial features and the rims. Once that dried, I hot glued ribbon and gold rick-rack to the rims to add a little added glitz. Then final outcome came out like this:
The paint is a little delicate so to further protect them I sprayed them with 2 coats of Clear Lacquer. This also makes them nice and shiny.

*FINISHED PRODUCT PICTURES SOON TO COME*

More Movies

Title:  The Dark Knight
This was the movie for October 15th
Starring: Heath Ledger (there are other great stars in this movie but none mean as much to me as Mr. Ledger does)
Plot: Batman is trying to defeat the Joker while Gotham is stating they no longer need him. And Harvey Dent (Gotham D.A.) loses the love of his life and becomes Two-Face.
Any Scenes During Halloween? No, just the crazy Joker.
Favorite Character or Scene: Heath Ledger as the Joker - He is creepy and chilling but I find the character completely fascinating.
Final Thoughts: I have seen this movie probably 30 times (we easily saw it 10 time in theaters) and I still pick up something new every time.

Title: Edward Scizzorhands
This was the movie for October 16th
Starring: Johnny Depp & Winona Ryder
Plot: A young man invented by a scientist is created with scizzors instead of fingers. He falls in love with a teenage girl and tries to fit into the 1950's society.

Getting Caught Up

I have been playing catch up on my Halloween movies. Here is my quick attempt to catch all of you up as well. Sorry, no reviews this time - you probably would think they were boring anyways - just a quick sentence about each movie

October 7th - Matilda
Little girl who has magical powers.

October 8th - The Addams' Family
Family who likes to torture people and each other - vampires meet Frankenstein of sorts. Plus last scene is set during Halloween.

October 9th - The Addams' Family Values
Same family - the kids go to summer camp (set during Thanksgiving).

October 10th - Ghostbusters
Bill Murray is set to suck up ghosts in his vacuum backpack.

October 11th - Beetlejuice
Don't say his name 3 times or he will come wreak havoc on your home.

October 12th -The Nightmare Before Christmas
Tim Burton. Need I say more?

October 13th - Clue
A who-done-it movie with Tim Curry, based off of the popular board game.

October 14th - Ghostbusters 2
More Bill Murray taking out ghosts. This is also the one where they battle the giant Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.

Lush 11 Tin is Fin!

Here is The Updated List:
1. Rockstar Soap - GONE!
2. Honey I Washed The Kids Soap - GONE!
3. B Electro Shower Gel - GONE!
4. 1 Street Party Bath Bomb - GONE!
5. 1/2 Karma Bubble Bar - GONE!
6. 1/2 Pop In The Bath Bubble Bar - GONE!
7. Strawberry Santa Shower Jelly - GONE!
8. Rub Rub Rub Shower Gel - GONE!
9. Up You Gets Emotibomb - GONE!
10. Karma Dusting Powder - GONE!
11. Ocean Salt - GONE!

I am completely finished with my Lush Project 11 Tin. I am proud that I made it through and still have a lot of products that I need to wither away before purchasing more soap or massage bars. However, I am planning on buying some of the new bath bombs and possible lotions.  I enjoyed the experience and found some products that I really loved and some that were slightly problematic. Overall, I'm glad I put myself through the experience. I didn’t feel it was difficult and don't know how I would react if the temptation was there since I didn't allow myself to even go to the store.

Hocus Pocus, The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey

As you may be able to tell I am a little behind on my movie watching. But am quickly catching up. Hopefully, I will be all caught up by Tuesday, but that is only a hope. Below are my "reviews". I will have an updated list later this week.

Title:  Hocus Pocus
This was the movie for October 4th
Starring:  Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy
Plot (according to the DVD box):  "You're in for a devil of a time when three outlandishly wild witches return from 17th century Salem after they are accidentally conjured up by some unsuspecting pranksters! It's a night full of zany fun and comic chaos once the tricky 300-year-old trio sets out to cast a spell on the town and reclaim their youth - but first they must get their act together and outwit three kids and a talking cat!"
Any Scenes During Halloween? Yes, the entire movie is set over one Halloween night.
Favorite Character or Scene:  Sarah Jessica Parker's character Sarah. She plays a ditzy, completely idiotic but pretty sister who likes to play with boys and collects children for the sisters to eat. & of course, the favorite scene is Sarah Jessica Parker jumping up and down repeating words. Like saying, "A MUCK, A MUCK, A MUCK" until getting hit in the stomach. This happens variously during the movie.
Final Thoughts: Its one of my favorite Halloween movies. Something I grew up with. It's charming.

Title:  It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
This was the movie for October 5th
The Back of the DVD reads: "Will this Halloween be the one when the Great Pumpkin come? Longtime believer Linus thinks so - and keeps watch all night in the pumpkin patch to welcome him. Charlie Brown gets into the spooky spirit too, dressing up as a ghost with more eyeholes than needed - but not scaring up the usual kinds of Halloween loot when trick-or-treating. Never fear,  World War I fighting ace Snoopy is here to battle the Red Baron - and in doing so, crash Violet's Halloween party and Linus' vigil as well."
Final Thoughts:  Another Halloween classic and childhood favorite.

Title:  Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
This was the movie for October 6th
Starring: Keanu Reeves & Alex Winter
Plot: Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted(Keanu Reeves) are two friends who have traveled back in time to do a history report. When the succeed they create a band, the Wild Stalyns, which creates peace among the universe in the future. (This is all better explained in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure) Now in the future, an evil villain plans to send evil Bill & Ted robots to kill the good Bill & Ted to change history. The movie consist of Bill & Ted's journey through heaven and hell.
Any Scenes During Halloween? No, but there are scenes in hell.
Favorite Character or Scene: I think Keanu Reeves' character is the best way to imagine Keanu Reeves. He plays an airheaded teen very well.
Final Thoughts: It is a definite early 90's movie but I love it. It's funny (even though the first one is better - but isn't it always that way?) and it’s a great way to giggle at what was thought to be great special effects in the 90's.

Pink Champagne Cupcakes With Homemade Frosting

I have probably 100 recipes and have tried just about all of them. However, this is one of my favorites.
They are Pink Champagne Cupcakes

What You Need:
1 Box of White Cake Mix (It must be white cake mix - not vanilla)
1/2 - 3/4 Cup of Pink Champagne (I prefer something sweet; Pink! an Australian champagne is my favorite)
Red Food Coloring
For The Frosting:
1 Cup Butter, softened
9-9 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
1/4 Cup Milk
1/4 Cup Champagne
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
Red Food Coloring
Silver Dragees for Decoration

Now Your Baking
1. Follow the directions on the cake mix and substitute the liquid with champagne. So if the box says 1/4 cup water use 1/4 cup of champagne instead.
2. Tint with red food coloring, I used between 3-5 depending on how bright I feel like making them.
3. Bake as instructed. I prefer cupcakes in pretty silver liners but you can also do two 9 in round pans as well.
4. Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
5. Decorate with pink frosting using a star tipped piping bag for a pretty swirl then sprinkle with silver dragees.
To Make The Frosting
1. Beat 1 cup softened butter for 30 seconds. Slowly add 4 cups of powdered sugar.
2. Beat in milk, champagne, and vanilla.
3. Continue to beat in 5-5 1/2 cups of powdered sugar until you get the consistency you want.
4. Add red food coloring.
5. You can frost the cupcakes once cool or refrigerate overnight and the champagne flavor will come out.

Things To Consider
When considering cake mix - do not use mixes with pudding
The champagne flavors the cupcakes - you can really use anything but stick to something pink and something cheap to mid range
I also have made a these with a vanilla buttercream with fresh raspberries and it was lovely

ENJOY.

Monsters, Inc & Death Becomes Her

My reviews for October 2nd & 3rd!
Title:  Monsters, Inc.
This was the movie for October 2nd.
Starring: Billy Crystal and John Goodman
Plot: Two monsters let a child into there monster world. A world where they run off of children's screams and the child themselves are toxic. They must hide the little girl and save her from the evil monster, Randall, who wants to kidnap her.
Any Scenes During Halloween? No, but it is a movie about monsters.
Favorite Character or Scene: Boo(Mary Gibbs), the adorable little girl calling Sully (John Goodman) kitty and trying to say MikeWazowski's (Billy Crystal)name. She is just so cute!

Final Thoughts:  It’s a cute movie and I really enjoyed it. It's one of those movies that I sometimes get that craving to watch but then once I watch it I have no need for it for several months. In other words, I like it but it's not a favorite.

Title:  Death Becomes Her
This was the movie for October 3rd.
Starring:  Meryl Streep, Bruce Willis, & Goldie Hawn
Plot: Madeline Ashton (Meryl Streep), a movie/Broadway star, steels her friend Helen Sharp's fiancée (Bruce Willis). To get back at them Helen (Goldie Hawn) devises a plan to kill Madeline. However, Madeline, is on a search to find a way to stay young when she takes a potion which makes her forever young.
Any Scenes During Halloween? No, but they do constantly try to kill each other.
Favorite Character or Scene: Dr. Ernest Meville,(Bruce Willis) a once hugely famous plastic surgeon, is now an undertaker. When asked by a woman, whom he did the makeup for her aunt, what his secret was he replies, "Spray paint." He goes on to tell her why when he finds that the woman is completely offended and leaves.
Final Thoughts:  I love this movie and only watching it was a year is a total travesty.

Halloween Movie Review

Title: Bewitched
This was the movie for October 1st.
Starring: Nicole Kidman & Will Ferrill
Plot: Nicole Kidman plays Isabelle, a witch who comes to the US to quit magic. Will Ferrill plays Jack, an once hit actor who is remaking the show Bewitched. He finds Isabelle and offers her the job. She thinks this is her shot at love. It is the story of their remake of the show
Any Scenes During Halloween? Yes, there is a montage of Jack missing Isabelle where 4 girls are trick or treating as witches and Jack's crying and apologizing for not having any candy scares them away. Very funny.
Favorite Character or Scene: Kristin Chenoweth's character, Maria Kelly, a true Chenolicous character. Scene when "Jack" freaks out because his character Darrin was replaced in the original show and no one noticed.
Final Thoughts: It has been a while since I've seen it but definitely a favorite. Even if the critics hated it, I really enjoyed it. I don't normally agree with the critics any ways.

Yesterday's movie was Monsters, Inc. & I have yet to decide today's movie.
I am planning on having those "reviews" up tomorrow.
Also tomorrow I am putting up a recipe for the most amazing homemade macaroni and cheese.

Movies, Recipes, & Crafts

For the month of October I am watching 1 "Halloween" movie every day. My Halloween movies range from Casper to Saw; from The Pit and the Penedulum to Zombieland. I love fall and from October to New Years is when I thrive. I don't normally do scary movies (there are few that I truly enjoy) so the movies are mostly kids movies or older horror films (ones I don't find scary). Today's movie is......
Bewitched (2005) starring Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman. It has been a while since I have seen this movie so I am excited to watch it again. Plus, I love the theme song. Do-do-do-do-do-do.

ALSO....
I am planning on posting some recipes, crafts, and tutorials. I have lots of things I want to make. So there are some great crafts and recipes coming up. My upcoming projects are pumpkin luminaries, straightener cozy, a tulle tutu (for a 3yr old, not for me), a goodie bag for my boyfriend's niece (same 3 yr old that's getting the tutu), and may baking, candy making loveliness.

Reading List

I am planning on putting up a couple of book reviews within the next couple weeks.
So here is my reading list:
Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore - Not my normal read by any means. A book lent to me by my boyfriend's stepmom, who is my polar opposite.
Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang by Cheslea Handler - The last book in her "series" and I am very excited to read it
Then I have decided to pick up a couple biographies of Jacqueline Kennedy, Graced Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn. Not sure which I will read first.

I am very excited and will try to present these in a new fun way.
Also planning on doing a review of my new phone (Moto Droid)

Lush 11 Tin & Chelsea Handler Book Review

I haven't had much time to update lately. So I am throwing a couple of things together in this one. First up, my Project 11 Tin is ALMOST DONE! YESSS!

Here is The Updated List:
1. Rockstar Soap - I have a small chunk left
2. Honey I Washed The Kids Soap - Only 2 more washes left!
3. B Electro Shower Gel - Only 2 more showers left!
4. 1 Street Party Bath Bomb - 1 bath
5. 1/2 Karma Bubble Bar - 1 more bath!
6. 1/2 Pop In The Bath Bubble Bar - 1 more bath!
7. Strawberry Santa Shower Jelly - Probably 3 or 4 washes left
8. Rub Rub Rub Shower Gel - 1/2 of a small bottle left
9. Up You Gets Emotibomb - 1 showers worth
10. Karma Dusting Powder - probably 2 more times vacuuming my room or 3-4 times in my shoes
11. Ocean Salt - between 1/2 and 1/3 of the small jar

So as you can see I have only a few baths left and then I will be done and be able to purchase some new items to try out and review. Which is perfect timing with all the new bath bombs coming out. Now, I am planning on using up 2 more soaps I have Nubar & Wash Your Back Soap before I buy anything other than bath bombs and bubble bars for a while. I also still have a solid shampoo that I will probably try to use up in my bath tonight. And finally, I will be chipping away at my Stepping Stone Foot Scrub as well.

Moving on to the book review.....
Chelsea Handler's My Horizontal Life
First off I would like to state if you don't want to read about sexual encounters, drugs, and gay sex you probably don't want to pick up this one. This book is a collection of one night stands, in that witty comedy that only Chelsea Handler can do.
Now, I have to say I loved it. It was very funny. There were a couple stories that I really stood out to me as being especially funny. One being, dropping E on a boat while catching a Dr. that she was after having gay sex with his partner. The other being the very last chapter. Where she is explaining all of her sexcapades to her friend and father, who tells her how she should write a book. Overall, it was very entertaining.

Book Review

I just finished up A Little Bit Wicked  by Kristin Chenoweth and am looking forward to reading my next book, My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler. Let's just say these books are polar opposites. I enjoyed the Chenoweth book but there were some things I weren't crazy about. It was kind of a boring read. It took me a while before I really got into it. The other thing is her stories are a little all over the place. I blame her ghost writer for this. It didn't really feel like there was much of a time line. At times it was a little hard to follow at what point in her life they were talking about. The things I did like were the fact that Kristin Chenoweth is charming. And the added chapter really did sum things up. I also loved the recipes. It was a sweet book and I did enjoy it but I don't know if I would read it again. I have to say my favorite part was the last chapter because that meant I would get to start my Chelsea Handler book!

So I am starting My Horizontal Life today. And once I finish that up I will finally completely read through That Each Half Inch by Victoria Beckham. Which is a delightful fashion insight. I have skimmed through it and loved it and am really looking forward to actually reading it cover to cover.

More Project 11 Tin

I am chipping away at my Lush stuff. The end is near! Sort of.... So here are some more pictures, a couple reviews, and the updated list.

Only 1/2 of the Karma Bubble Bar made plenty of bubbles.

Lets talk about the Karma Bubble Bar. I really like it. It has the perfect trademark Karma scent and I noticed how lovely my skin felt afterward (even onto the next day). It was a nice soften feel but not greasy. It was very nice. And the scents mixed well with the B Electro body wash.
The aftermath of Street Party.
It looks like dirt but that is ALL glitter!
Ok now time to discuss Street Party Bath Bomb. Unlike like the Karma Bubble Bar there were things about this one I didn't like, most the clean up afterward. First off, it smelled amazing and my little bathroom smelled like it for DAYS. And while I was in the bath it was really fun. The great scent, the streamer unraveling, the little flags floating around, and tons of glitter. I was not expecting that much glitter. Which was the only thing I didn't like. It was everywhere. And..... once the water dries nothing, I mean NOTHING, cleans off dried, stuck on glitter out of a tub. It took me a couple days to get it all out. & I was covered in it too. Luckily, it was much easier to get off my body than the tub. Either way, I did really like the scent and would probably do it again.

The Updated List:
1. Rockstar Soap - I have a small chunk left
2. Honey I Washed The Kids Soap - I have a slightly larger chunk left
3. B Electro Shower Gel - Only 2 more showers left!
4. 1 Street Party Bath Bomb - 1 bath
5. 1/2 Karma Bubble Bar - 1 more bath!
6. 1 Pop In The Bath Bubble Bar - 2 more baths

My goal is to knock out the bubble bars this week and the Karma Dusting Powder. I think I can finish up the B Electro Shower Gel too. Then I will be down to lots of soap.

Project 10, uh I mean 11, Tin Lush Style

Project 10 Tin is mainly meant for makeup. You cannot purchase any new makeup products until you completely finish 10 products you already own. Well I'm not a makeup fanatic but I am a Lush fanatic so I am doing Project 10 Tin Lush Style.
Now I am modifying this a tad. I am not including any products I use on a regular basis and in that case I am allowing myself to purchase products I use on a regular basis. The point, for me at least, of Project 10 Tin is to not be wasteful and use products I don't normally use. Now I am modifying it because I use Imperialis every day and I know if I do purchase Imperialis again during this project I will use all of it. Because I am modifying it I am also adding another product. So for me, its Project 11 Tin Lush Style.

So here are my 11 products:
1. Rockstar Soap - I have a small chunk left
2. Honey I Washed The Kids Soap - I have a slightly larger chunk left
3. B Electro Shower Gel - I have 1/3 of the large bottle left
4. 1 Street Party Bath Bomb - 1 bath
5. 1 Karma Bubble Bar - which is 2 baths
6. 1 Pop In The Bath Bubble Bar - also 2 baths worth

9 out of the 11 products in my Project 11 Tin

I will also be working on using up my Nubar Soap (once the majority of my soap is gone), a brand new jar of Lemon Flutter, the new Stepping Stone Foot Scrub, my Imperialis (of course), a body cream teaser of Creme Anglaise, the Wash Your Back Soap, a small chunk of Trichomania Solid Shampoo, and several of the Massage Bars (I have 6 of them)

So it looks like I have a lot to work with and hopefully with chip away at my going (and aging) collection.

As always I will keep you updated on my project & I will hopefully be able to avoid temptation to get this working.
The products I used/hope to use tonight are Rub Rub Rub, B Electro, Creme Anglaise, and Lemon Flutter.

New View & Butterball

After taken a need break from reality, I have decided I was pushing myself a little to hard (in just about ever aspect of my life). So I promise I will start reviewing again but I won't be on such a strict schedule. I do want to do monthly list of my top 10 favorite items. & I will be shopping more so I will have plenty of material. Now to my first review back.

Butterball Bath Bomb by Lush

I'm not 100% a bath person but after taking a long, very well need bath the other night my love affair with showers may end rather shortly. The reason? This bath bomb. Seriously, I have used bath bombs here and there and yes, its been a nice smell or foamy water but nothing like this. I know on the website Lush says that the bath bomb softens skin and I thought on my skin will feel nice but that it would fade quickly. It reminded me of Buffy like moisture but not as strong. There is cocoa butter  in the bath bomb which melts into the hot water making this my favorite bath bomb so far. And they didn't quit there, the scent is also intoxicating. A mix of vanilla and ylang ylang, with a few candles you will be a warm bubble of heaven. Two tips, however, first this is not a bath bomb you want to actually wash in. It seems like a waste of a perfectly good bath bomb. Second, I got my hair wet and I could feel the coating of moisture on my hair. This is nothing a good rinse can't fix.Overall, I really do love this bath bomb. & if I could afford it I would probably buy a whole bunch of them & give them to sad looking people on the street just to brighten up there day.

Kindle DX

Today's topic is the Kindle & Kindle DX. Now, just to be safe, I DO NOT own a Kindle (not yet at least) & have yet to find a place where I can try one out before I buy one.

Screen: "E-ink screen reads like real paper" 16 shades of gray, no glare & easy to read in the sun
Holds up to 3,500 Books
Auto-Rotating : Display switches from portrait to landscape automatically when you turn the device

HOW I DESCRIBE IT:
The Kindle and Kindle DX are a cheaper, faster way to get books. I almost always order my books from Amazon & hate waiting for them to come in the mail. First of all, with a Kindle not only are they cheaper they are downloaded wirelessly to the Kindle within a minute. Second, I know that the Kindle DX is available in a version without the Global Wireless (the U.S. Wireless version) which makes it cheaper, however you can only buy it used. And finally, I have compared it in my head to the iPad & if you think the only reason you would use a iPad was for reading this is a lot cheaper (I do understand that is a BIG if though).

PRICES:
$259 for the Kindle; $489 for the Kindle DX

THINGS I LOVE:
3,500 books in one small place
I looked up 20 books I was interested in reading and the majority of them were between $7.99-$9.99. The highest being $12.99 which was released earlier this month & still 50% off the price I paid at Barnes & Noble a week ago.
Its a large screen & from what I have heard just like reading something off paper
It's green -- the less books printed on paper the more trees we can enjoy
The Kindle DX to me is rather aesthetically pleasing

THINGS I WASN'T CRAZY ABOUT:
There were a few books I looked for that they didn't have for the Kindle
From what I am lead to believe its a black and white screen so if you are looking at a book on art or fashion or something that involves colored photographs they pictures will be in black and white

OVERALL RATING:
8 out of 10
i WOULD buy one (& plan to soon)
I really enjoy the idea of it & hope to try to test one out to see if it lives up to my expectations

Street Party Bath Bomb

This one is my weekly review of a cosmetic. It's a Lush bath bomb called Street Party.

HOW LUSH DESCRIBES ITS:
"Some celebrations need to be taken to the streets – New Year's, birthdays, sports finals and national holidays with all the requisite noise makers, streamers, and dancing. For the ones where your first inclination is to strip down, head to the tub with Street Party. You'll have your ticker tape and glitter in all its glory, and soak in the decadent scent of a champagne cocktail all while avoiding citations from law enforcement. Have a Street Party while you can, it's only visiting for a limited time"

HOW I DESCRIBE IT:
This is one of the limited time bath bombs meant for the Olympics (so I think). It's a good sized bath bomb with red, white, and blue glitter (round & stars) with an American flag. It has a champagne scent, which I didn't think would be appealing but it really is. Price wise it is one of the cheaper ones. I bought 2 and the first one I used I filled up the bath tub got in & then put it into the water. It was a slow fizz and the entire bath began to smell like that beautiful champagne scent. Also, it was pretty watching all the little glitter coming out into the water.

THINGS I LEARNED WITH THIS PRODUCT:
It wasn't this exact product. I have found, however, that with most of the bath bombs if you have a jacuzzi tub (which I used on a recent vacation) & decide to turn on the jets, it works better with 2 bath bombs since some of them are pretty big tubs.

PRICES:
$4.95

THINGS I LOVE:
First off, the smell was my favorite
Second, I love vegan products - I'm no longer Vegan but still appreciate finding a good vegan product.
It did soften the water some & my skin felt nice when I got out
It made my bath relaxing & soothing - a good way to take the edge off

THINGS I WASN'T CRAZY ABOUT:
First, my skin didn't stay soft long due to having to rinse off all the glitter on my body once I was done
Second, the glitter was all over my tub afterward & I forgot to pull out the paper flag so it was stuck to my drain - however, it was a pretty easy clean up a quick rinse & it was gone.

OVERALL RATING:
7.5 out of 10
I MAY recommend this bath bomb depending on the person & their reason for using it
Definitely good for someone who wants the scent & time to relax; NOT meant for someone who wants some kind of effect from it (soft skin, etc.)
Overall, I did enjoy it & the smell did make up for all the glitter but still not my favorite Lush product

NEXT UP: I will write about a the Amazon Kindle & what I think of it so far

Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea?

Comedian turned talk show host turned author, Chelsea Handler, has always been a favorite of mine. Whether its my addiction to her late night talk show Chelsea Lately or her stand up, I am a fan. And I have finally joined the club in reading her books. I started with Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea?. I haven't finished it yet but so far I am loving it.

BASICS:
First, each chapter is a different story
She writes about adult things - sex, drugs, lots of cursing, etc
Her books are very similar to her stand up

THINGS I LOVE:
In every chapter you can hear her voice telling you the story
Every chapter is funny - most I actually laughed out loud
AWDASH - A very funny moment in the chapter Prison Break
You can skip a chapter (or in my case accidentally miss a chapter) & it still makes sense

THINGS I'M NOT CRAZY ABOUT:
Some of the chapters are a little long but they are entertaining so they go quickly

OVERALL RATING:
i WOULD recommend this to a friend (& have)
4 out of 5
Would make a good coffee table book to read a random chapter out of after you have read them all
